Wetland and Stream Services

Expertise Areas

Eco-Tech has a reputation as one of the top wetland science firms in the region. From our founding in 1990 we have performed wetland delineations and assessments, permitted impacts through federal and state agencies, and implemented restoration strategies throughout the eastern U.S. At Eco-Tech, our goal is simple - facilitate our client’s project need in a cost-effective manner without sacrificing the science of wetland restoration in the process. Eco-Tech personnel have performed hundreds of wetland delineations in a variety of settings and habitats.

Additionally, we have extensive experience in the functional assessment of aquatic habitats. Our staff has performed evaluations using USACE Hydrogeomorphic (HGM) assessment methodology, USEPA’s Rapid Bioassessment Protocols (RBP), Vegetation Index of Biotic integrity (VIBI), Invertebrate Community Index (ICI), and other state-specific quality assessment methodologies. We select and use the appropriate indices to track the progress of compensatory mitigation so that issues are addressed efficiently and permit conditions are met.

Stream Services

Expertise Areas

New development sometimes cannot avoid moving, filling, or otherwise affecting a stream or river. And past development sometimes has caused problems for streams that need to be addressed, such as flooding, loss of land to bank erosion, or pollution. These issues can be contentious and costly, but with planning and factual information, they can be manageable and even improve the development site setting and the aquatic resource.

Eco-Tech has designed stream restorations for government agencies, consulting engineers, and other private clients as mitigation for stream impacts. Our stream restoration projects integrate assessment, design, implementation, and monitoring phases into a cost-effective overall management strategy.

Our stream experts have formal training in a variety of natural channel design methodologies and bioengineering techniques. The training provides techniques and understanding that are put into practice with experience and judgment we have developed in designing, constructing, and monitoring many projects. The result is that our designs have been approved across multiple state and federal jurisdictions.
